Community Hall

The Halwell & Moreleigh Village Hall and Recreation Trust along with the help of many local people, completed Phase 1 of the village hall back in 1999 without external funding. The Trustees/Management and Social Committee along with the support of local people have now completed Phase 2 of the hall, by building an adjoining 200 Sq/meter hall and store rooms.

With the old facility consisting of a 80 Sq/metre building with a entrance hall, disabled/ladies toilet & cloakroom, gent urinal and separate WC, boarded loft storage area and a large fully fitted kitchen and all conforming to the majority of ‘Access for All’ requirements, we were very limited in events that could be held, but now anything is possible.

There was ample space for the hall without impacting on the area as there is a large car-park, including disabled parking bays adjacent to the entrance. There are very large playing fields around the hall which will be developed as sports fields, along with an existing enclosed purpose built safety play area for children.

The new building includes two additional ladies toilets, more storage area and a large stage. The kitchen has both everyday crockery and best dinner sets for functions.

Equipment & Facilities

TABLES
The store room, at the far end of the main hall, houses aluminium folding tables as follows:

22 tables measuring 1.82m x 0.68m
14 tables measuring 0.92m x 0.68m

CHAIRS
The store room also houses 120 Blue Plastic stacking chairs and 42 steel frame padded stacking chairs. 6 six foot aluminium bench seats

CUTLERY – CROCKERY – GLASSES
For functions the kitchen is fully equipped with matching place settings to support 120 people. There are 150 matching wine glasses, 100 ½ pint glasses and 50 Port/Sherry glasses. Everyday crockery is also available. For very special functions most caterers provide their own.

HEATING
The main hall is heated by warm air which is both quiet and quick. On a cold day the hall is heated to a comfortable temperature. The other rooms are heated by electric radiators.

INSURANCE
The hall holds Public Liability insurance which covers you against fault on our part. It is wise to have your own insurance in the event of claims against you.

CLEANING UP
We endeavour to ensure that the hall is clean and tidy for your event. Please ensure that you leave the hall as you would expect to find it. Cleaning items can be found in the entrance lobby and under the kitchen sink.

RUBBISH
All rubbish must be removed from village hall site at the end of the event. There is a bottle cycling facility at the end of the car park.
